Comparación del Desarrollo de una Aplicación usando Metodologías Alternas: .Net Bootstrap Framework en Visual Studio versus Modelo BPMN en Bizagi
(Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, 2017) Palomino Flores, Meluni D.; Rodríguez Jiménez, Othoniel

Preparing for the Future of Public Transportation with a Real-Time Application
(Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, 2017) Rodríguez Rodríguez, Josué; Torres Batista, Nelliud D.
The use of public transportation offers a lot of benefits to a city and to its citizens in terms of: economy, health, accessibility and manage of emergency, but some cities don’t inform their citizens or tourists of the different types of public transportations available. This idea consists in the implementation of a real-time application that can inform every user of public transportation about which alternatives they have in that matter. Users will also the ability to track vehicles movements in real time to determine their location and where they are headed. This application will help users adapt their lifestyle to use public transportation to any area they go. A native iOS application was created as a prototype which uses the phones GPS receiver to track the current location of the user and the vehicles. With the prototype, a user could track public transportation vehicles at real time, locate their stations, and request a ride to a taxi. The application showed huge potential to impact the use of public transportation and also, be able to adapt to the future to include self-driven car. Key Terms - GPS, iOS, Real-Time, SelfDriven. I

RCPM – A Mobile Application for Random Classroom Participation Management
(Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, 2017) Torres Rodríguez, Jorge A.; Torres Batista, Nelliud D.
For many courses in college, class participation is a key element for grading. In environments where a class requires constant feedback from students and their engagements in both dialog and discussions, a need has been identified for a way that would help professors manage students’ class sessions. Using Android Studio as the development platform, an application has been devised that can calculate and store student’s participation details including awarded points. RCPM, which is an acronym for Random Classroom Participation Management, is a tool designed to help faculty manage such educational dynamics regardless of class size. It is a smart phone based program that addresses the need for reliably annotating student participation details while selecting a student at random for questioning which can help to promote a suitable atmosphere of fairness among classmates through an equitable distribution of question and answer engagements. Key Terms - android application, classroom participation, mobile platform, question distribution, random selection.

Mobile application architecture, implementation for a local gas prices with community participation, and gas station location
(Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, 2018) Santos Ramos, Alex; Torres Batista, Nelliud D.
The objective of this article is to establish the fundamental components of a mobile architecture model that enables the development of a production-graded solution for local (Puerto Rico) gas prices and gas station locations. It will establish this model by identifying each component based on the responsibilities of the system. Components will be identified by looking at the basic needs and desired features of the proposed system, from a high-level point of view. The approach is to match the system expected behavior with technologies that enable those functionalities. Once the components are identified, it will describe the interaction between them and take the basic considerations regarding mobile infrastructure solutions like communication technologies and security system. It will also provide a prototype mechanism to establish a custom/proprietary advertisement system through the mobile application in which advertisement space will be allocated at the mobile graphic interface. Finally, it will consider how the technology developed here can be expanded into other areas/solutions. Key Terms - Gas Prices, Mobile Architecture, Mobile Authentication, RESTful API, Web Server.
