The Interproject: Knowing and Proposing are One

Abstract

This paper is about another way of thinking about a design project. One in which knowing and proposing are intertwined. Folded over each other, they allow for a major shift: the integration of project and place. Project and place become ‘one’, interconnected by time - to view them as such allows the flow of folded time to be continuous. Why should we make a project that defies the linear relationship between analysis and design? How do we make a project in which knowing and proposing are one? If it is not linear, what kind of process is it? And, what kind of project is generated by such a process? Answers to these questions are the crux of this discussion. I.
