Abstract

This paper presents the concept of the regulating reserve margin in an economic dispatch by using the Lagrange method of undetermined multipliers. The regulating reserve margin is the amount of generation that should be available within a certain time period. Our study does not consider system losses because we want to emphasize the effect of the reserve margin on a conventional economic dispatch.
