Abstract

This research work aims to conduct a study on the treatment of wastewater from a population, using constructed wetlands. The wastewater used for the experiment comes from the Regional Wastewater treatment plant located in the municipality of Caguas, facility that belongs to the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewage Authority (PRASA). In this study were compared different alternatives of wastewater treatment using artificial wetland, each one with its own parameters and characteristics, this way the alternative that best suit the needs of this study will be obtained. This project seeks to expand the knowledge about the various ways in which waste water can be treated, also to serve as a starting point in the study of alternatives that may help us to treat these waters, using existing technologies that do not compromise the welfare of our ecosystem and also obtaining results in compliance with the quality standards established by law.
