Abstract

Design of a synchronous motor and its protection system The design of a synchronous motor is not a common task in the practice of electrical engineering because this type of machine is widely available for mechanical applications and as synchronous capacitors. This situation makes us ponder on a technique to design a synchronous motor. This paper presents a technique of design by trial and error where the researcher starts with the descriptive initial parameters for a machine, obtained mathematically, and then, with the Electromagnetic Transient Program (EMTP), the desired motor is defined.
