Abstract

This project is based upon proposed changes to the design of facilities and the acquisition of new equipment for a company. Our goal is to optimize the use of the equipment and the human and economic resources using the technique of process simulation1. For this purpose we selected the manufacturing simulator WITNESS from AT&T-ISTEL2 This simulator allowed us to evaluate the production system using measurements like the lead time units produced per unit of time, the size of the inventories in process, the use of equipment and personnel and the proportion of tasks reprocessed .
